The law firm of Kocher & Barney (KB), has recently made a $1,000 donation to Ottawa County Transitional Housing Inc. (OCTHI), through part of the firm’s annual $2 for Blue campaign. Throughout the year, KB’s team members donate $2 each time they wear jeans to work, with the firm matching their contributions dollar-for-dollar.
The decision to direct funds to OCTHI this year was personal for the firm. KB attorney Gabby Toscano serves on the Board of Directors for OCTHI, and through her involvement, the firm became aware of funding cuts to the organization. These reductions only strengthened KB’s commitment to step up and support the essential services OCTHI provides for services such as RuthAnn’s House, which provides for women and children facing crisis situations.
“When we learned about the funding cuts, it became clear that this is exactly where our $2 for Blue efforts needed to go,” said Toscano. “Ottawa County Transitional Housing, through services like RuthAnn’s House, brings safety, stability, and hope to families in our community, and we’re honored to play even a small role in supporting that mission.”
Toscano presented the donation at the December OCTHI meeting. KB remains committed to supporting local organizations that strengthen the wellbeing of Ottawa County communities.
